Construction is about to begin on a 2-megawatt land-based wind turbine at the University of Delaware’s Hugh R. Sharp Campus in Lewes, part of UD’s College of Earth, Ocean, and Environment (CEOE). The public can follow its progress on CEOE’s new wind turbine web site: www.ceoe.udel.edu/LewesTurbine.
The site provides background on the project, a detailed timeline, and updated news and events. Visitors will also be able to see images of the turbine’s installation once construction begins in early March. The turbine is expected to be in operation and generating electricity in April.
