  • Allen A. Frear Elementary School 238 Sorghum Mill Road Dover, DE, 19901 United States (map)

Join Delaware Sea Grant, Delaware Nature Society, and Stroud Water Research Center for a three day professional development on Environmental Literacy and Meaningful Watershed Education Experiences (MWEEE).  Meaningful Watershed Educational Experiences (MWEEs) are learner-centered experiences that focus on investigations into the local environment that lead students to informed action and civic engagement.

In this workshop, participants will be given a background on the components of a MWEE and how MWEEs can be used to meet standards and schools while engaging in authentic field studies and community actions.  Participants will also learn how to plan a MWEE, learn how to engage with community partners, and learn how to facilitate meaningful outdoor field investigations.

All participants are required to complete the FREE 3-hour MWEE 101 online course prior to their attendance of the in-person MWEE Ambassador Training.

This workshop is open classroom teachers, school administrators, non-formal educators, and other education partners serving K-12 students in Delaware.  Priority will be given to teachers and administrators from Caesar Rodney School District and Appoquinimink School District.

Registration is required. Delaware public school teachers should register using the PDMS section number #31540.  All other educators please complete the online registration form or David Christopher at dmchrist@udel.edu.

This workshop is funded by NOAA’s Chesapeake Bay Watershed Education and Training (BWET) Program.  To learn more about BWET visit: www.noaa.gov/office-education/bwet.
