In this online meeting, DESG coastal hazards specialist Danielle Swallow and Josh Kelly from Delaware Emergency Management Agency (DEMA) will discuss the value and role of different types of networks in responding to and recovering from disasters. Networks are useful in harnessing social capital and resources but are often under-leveraged. Participants will explore building and using existing networks for community resilience, working together to brainstorm best practices and strategies for improving networks and creating new ones in their own community or sector.
This event is part of DESG’s Engage and Exchange Workshops and the Recover Delaware Roundtables, the latter led by the University of Delaware’s Institute for Public Administration and DEMA. In both series, experts and practitioners work with stakeholders of all kinds to identify and implement approaches that support resilient and sustainable communities.
Municipal and county officials and interested members of the public are encouraged to attend the Networks for Resilience event, along with representatives from state agencies, non-governmental organizations and the private sector.
