Delaware Sea Grant Engage and Exchange Workshops: Using Fish-Finders for Science and Stewardship

This is a free workshop on September 17th with an optional and space-limited hands-on session available to a subset of participants on September 18th:

September 17, 4pm – 6pm

This session is appropriate for owners of a wide range of consumer-grade fish-finders (e.g. Garmin, Raymarine, Lowrance, Humminbird). Participants will be provided with an overview of side-imagine sonar technology and various applications will be reviewed. It is pre-requisite to the optional and space- limited hands on session on September 18th, where participants will be able to practice skills aboard the University of Delaware R/V Dogfish.

Participants that register for the September 17th virtual session will be able to request to participate in one of two hands-on session at the University of Delaware Lewes Campus on September 18th to practice skills aboard the R/V Dogfish. During this in-person workshop, sonar experts from University of Delaware’s Coastal Sediments, Hydrodynamics, and Engineering Lab and Blacklaser Learning Inc. will provide participants with hands-on experiences using a variety of sonar devices and post-processing software, with a focus on science and stewardship applications. We have extended registration until Wednesday, September 15th.
